How Many Boxes of Flooring Do I Need?
Because flooring is sold in full boxes, round the final box count up—not the square footage down.
Three-step calculation
1) Calculate measured area. 2) Add the selected waste percentage. 3) Divide required square feet by the coverage printed on one box, then round up to the next whole box.
Example
If 264 sq ft is required and each box covers 20.5 sq ft: 264 ÷ 20.5 = 12.88, so purchase 13 boxes. That equals 266.5 sq ft of packaged coverage.
Before ordering
Confirm the coverage on the exact product label, return policy, dye or production lot, damaged-box procedure and whether unopened spare material should be kept for repairs.
